Federal authorities allocate almost 10 billion roubles to eliminate fuel oil spill consequences

1.4 billion roubles, in addition to earlier allocated 8.5 billion roubles, will be provided to the “Rosmorrechflot” (Russian Federal Agency for Sea and Inland Water Transport) for monitoring the pollution of the sea with oil products, inspection and sealing up of sunken tanker parts.

The Russian Government has additionally allocated more than 1.4 billion roubles for elimination of the consequences of the oil spill in the Kerch Strait. A corresponding order has been signed.

"Over 1.4 billion roubles have been allocated from the govt's reserve fund to eliminate the consequences of the emergency situation related to the oil spill as a result of the wreck of tankers in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024," the TASS Agency has quoted the Russian Govt’s press service as reporting today.

The allocated funds will be sent to the “Rosmorrechflot” for monitoring the pollution of the aquatic environment with oil products, localizing and eliminating such pollution. Also, with federal funding, a survey of sunken tanker fragments will be conducted in order to define the possible exit points of the remaining fuel oil (mazut). Such exits will be sealed up.

Earlier, more than 8.5 billion roubles were allocated from the reserve fund to eliminate the oil spill as a result of the wreck of tankers in the Kerch Strait that occurred on December 15, 2024, the report states.
