Teens’ mass brawl in Makhachkala turns into criminal case
A criminal case about a street brawl in Makhachkala, in which at least 50 people took part, is being investigated under the hooliganism article. According to sources, the mass brawl was preceded by a two teenagers’ conflict.
The mass teenagers’ brawl in Makhachkala has attracted the attention of Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), which has reported on the investigation it had launched. On May 16 and 17, a total of 67 persons were detained in Makhachkala, including at least 35 teenagers. Administrative protocols for petty hooliganism were drawn up against 18 people, the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported, informing about the conducted prophylactic talks with the children, their parents and teachers.
According to the anonymous “Baza” Telegram channel, the clashes began after a young man from Makhachkala lost to an athlete from Kizlyar at a wrestling competition, which was disliked by the former’s retinue. They decided to take revenge on the winner; and random people intervened in the conflict itself. "As a result, all this escalated into a major brawl between the gangs," the above Telegram channel has reported.
The ICRF’s division for the Sovietsky District of Makhachkala has opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism) regarding the above mass brawl in Makhachkala, the branch has reported.
"According to investigators, on May 16, 2025, a group of at least 50 people, including minors, grossly violated the public order in the Fazu Alieva Mini-Park by provoking a mass brawl. Several brawlers have been detained. The issue of choosing a preventive freedom restriction measure against them will be considered in the near future," the branch’s Telegram channel has informed.
Investigators are currently studying all the circumstances of the incident, the report has explained.
Part 2 of Article 213 of the Russian Criminal Code provides for a fine of 500,000 roubles to seven years in prison.
According to the police, the mass brawl was preceded by a street conflict among two teenagers in the Fazu Alieva Mini-Park, the above “Baza” Telegram channel has reported today, without indicating the data source.

As noted in the report, on May 16, “the 16-year-old Magomed was walking in the mini-park,” and “the 17-year-old Mukhammad was walking towards him.” “The boys locked their eyes – Mukhammad sharply asked him not to look at him like that, to which Magomed retorted: “I look where I want.” The teens started a brawl; passersby separated them, but the aftertaste remained. Magomed and Mukhammad agreed to meet the next day,” the above Telegram channel has written.
