Calls to get registered in Grozny have puzzle netizens
Ramzan Kadyrov has called on the people who live in Grozny but are registered in other Chechen dwelling settlements to get registered in the republic's capital. The meaning of Kadyrov's call is unclear, but entities have already received instructions on the need for employees thereof to get registered, commentators have noted.
"If a person lives in this city, then he/she should be registered here. Everyone here should be registered in Grozny, because they live in the capital. We need to increase the urban population," the “Grozny Inform” News Agency has quoted Ramzan Kadyrov as saying.
According to the “Chechenstat”, as of January 1, 2024, 399,286 people lived in Grozny.
The News Agency has noted that, on the instructions of the head of the republic, "active work was underway" to increase the population of Grozny.
"I also spend most of my time in Grozny, so I‘ll get registered here myself," Kadyrov said and called on all citizens of the republic to follow him, the “Chechnya Today” News Agency has reported.
"You need to get registered at the residence of with anyone – your relatives, friends or acquaintances. The main point is that registration mark in Grozny appears in your passport. Otherwise, a person could allegedly even lose his/her job," a "Caucasian Knot" reader has written.
Instagram* users have also asked about the idea of increasing the population registered in Grozny.
Other users, on the contrary, have complained that they cannot get registered. "I also wanted to get registered but was refused," the user aida_16.1 has reported.
Earlier, Kadyrov stated that most of those who are on the waiting list for receiving housing in Grozny have no right to do so. Local residents have noted that authorities are unable to solve the problem for many years.
*On March 21, 2022, the Tverskoi Court of Moscow banned the activities in Russia of the Meta Company, owning the Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, in connection with extremist activities.
