Kurban Dalgatov's mother assess trial prospects of her son's death case

The law enforcers guilty of the death of Kurban Dalgatov, a Makhachkala resident, are trying in every way to avoid punishment, while the judges are following their lead, the mother of Kurban, who died after being tortured by the police. The trial of Dalgatov's death case will continue on April 30 this year.

On December 9, 2024, the court sentenced Islam Atavov, a Makhachkala policeman, to 7.5 years in prison, finding him guilty in the case of Dalgatov's death. The advocate for Dalgatov's family filed complaints with the Supreme Court of Dagestan against the decisions to release the defendants, Imran Rustamov and Adis Isakov, who decided to go to the special military operation (SMO) zone, but the complaints were dismissed by the court.

In July 2024, the investigation was completed in the case of 11 Makhachkala policemen accused in the case of Kurban Dalgatov's death. The criminal cases against two other policemen who entered into pre-trial agreements with investigators, Islam Atavov and Marat Babaev, were singled out. On November 5, 2024, the court granted the request to release Marat Babaev to the SMO zone in Ukraine.

Raisa Dalgatova, the mother, told the "Caucasian Knot" that after the picket in Makhachkala, which she held together with her husband, the interest in her son's case did not increase.

The mother has not yet held new pickets demanding fair punishment for the law enforcers for the death of her son, as her health has worsened.

According to Raisa Dalgatova, video evidence in the defendants' chats is currently being examined at the trial of her son's death. "They are trying to get away with it, and perhaps they will succeed – everything is so corrupt," she has emphasized.
