Native of Chechnya Selima Khadisova granted asylum in Europe

The authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina granted asylum to Selima Khadisova, a native of Chechnya, who fled from domestic violence.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in September, Selima Khadisova, a 32-year-old native of Chechnya, was detained in Sarajevo. According to the Chechen diaspora’s information, the woman was put on the wanted list in Russia at the insistence of her husband’s relatives.

Selima Khadisova flew to Bosnia with her three children from Turkey, where she lived for several years after fleeing domestic violence. The woman reported that she was wanted by Interpol.

The authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina granted asylum to Selima Khadisova, the “Vayfond” human rights organization reported on its Telegram channel.

Let us remind you that human rights defenders emphasized the need for Russia to adopt a law that would prohibit relatives from approaching victims of violence or returning them to their families with the help of the law enforcement bodies. The kidnapping of victims of violence by their relatives does not result in criminal liability for kidnappers, and the authorities prefer to ignore the problem, the human rights defenders note.
