Protesters' activeness in Georgia goes up ahead of presidential election

Protests in Georgia have not revealed a bright leader, while oppositional activists have no opportunity to lead the actions. Today, demonstrators have shown high activeness, which will only increase until the presidential election day on December 14, political analysts and journalists are sure.

Georgia now sees the 15th day of protests against the suspension of European integration. Professionals of the IT sphere have marched in Tbilisi; musicians gathered at the conservatory and demanded the release of detained protesters, in particular, Anri Kakabadze, a conservatory student. Doctors took to the streets against detentions of their colleagues.

Archil Sikharulidze, a political analyst, believes that Salome Zurabishvili cannot be called the protest leader. He does not see any bright personalities among protesters who would attract the society's attention.

Gela Vasadze, another political analyst, agrees with him. "Zurabishvili is in no way a protest leader; she is the only legal institution through which the protest can manifest itself in the political process," he has noted.

Also, according to his version, new bright faces have not appeared among the opposition leaders.

Marta Ardasheliya, the editor-in-chief of the SOVA Georgian outlet, is sure that it is impossible to talk about any decline in the wave of protests. "Right now, the society is the most important player in this confrontation; therefore, sooner or later authorities will have to listen to them," she believes.
