At least 70 media employees injured during protests in Georgia

Human rights defenders counted 70 journalists who were injured by the actions of law enforcers during protest actions in Georgia.

Since November 28, when the protests began, more than 400 demonstrators have been detained. For several days in a row, in Tbilisi, unidentified men in masks continue attacking people. In particular, a group of about 50 men in masks beat up several members of the “Akhali” Party.

Over the past ten days, law enforcers have caused damage to more than 70 reporters and cameramen covering rallies in support of European integration, the “Tbilisi Life” Telegram channel reports.

At the same time, according to the media ombudsperson, the Special Investigative Service did not identify a single law enforcer involved in those crimes.

The human rights organization’s statement notes that on December 10, when the world celebrates International Human Rights Day, Georgian media have to fight for freedom of expression.
