Political analysts point to Kadyrov’s role in conflict around “Wildberries” Company
In the business conflict around the “Wildberries” Company, Ramzan Kadyrov took the side of Vladislav Bakalchuk, a co-founder of the marketplace. However, the leader of Chechnya is also pursuing his own interests, political analysts point out.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on September 20, the number of people arrested in the case on the conflict near an office of the “Wildberries” Company, increased to thirty. Meanwhile, Vladislav Bakalchuk, the co-founder of the marketplace, reported that he was sent home.
On September 18, in Moscow, a group of men broke the glass at the entrance to the business centre where the office of the “Wildberries” Company was located. In response, gunfire was opened. As a result of the shooting, Islambek Elmurziev, an athlete from Ingushetia, and Adam Almazov, a 41-year-old deputy commander of the “Akhmat-1” OMON (riot police) battalion, were killed. Three other athletes from Ingushetia were wounded.
The incident was the result of a “business brawl,” political analyst Ruslan Kutaev suggests. He believes that the interests of Vladislav Bakalchuk were represented by the Ramzan Kadyrov’s associates.
On July 23, Ramzan Kadyrov stated that he would “go to the end” to stop the raider takeover of the “Wildberries” Company. However, Tatiana Bakalchuk, the founder of the “Wildberries” Company, denied the version about the raider takeover of the company.
Svetlana Gannushkina*, the chair of the “Civic Assistance” Committee*, voiced an opinion that the leader of Chechnya took one of the sides in the conflict. The human rights defender suggests that the Ramzan Kadyrov’s intercession could added fuel to the fire of the conflict even without his participation.
Political analyst Sergey Boyko* believes that Vladislav Bakalchuk appealed to Ramzan Kadyrov as a “specialist in resolving disputes.”
The Chechen political analyst reported that people associated with the Ramzan Kadyrov’s power bodies took part in the conflict around the “Wildberries” Company and that the leader of Chechnya “always acts in his own interests.”
Friendship with Ramzan Kadyrov does not guarantee the preservation of business in the event of serious claims by the law enforcement bodies against entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, by intervening in the conflict around the “Wildberries” Company, Ramzan Kadyrov has positioned himself as a politician of federal scale, analysts note.
