Prisoner sews up his mouth in Azerbaijan

Mekhman Muradov, a life prisoner of the Gobustan closed prison of Azerbaijan, has sewn up his mouth and went on a hunger strike. This news was announced by the Committee of Life Prisoners' Relatives.

The APA Agency reports that Muradov undertook these actions to protest against the measures taken in the prison to suppress the use of mobile phones; a device emitting radiation was installed.

"In spite of prisoners' demand to switch the device off, the prison administration has ignored their protest. This was the reason why Mekhman Muradov has sewn up his mouth," the spokesman of the Committee said.

However, the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan has informed that they do not possess this information.

We remind you that in July the "Caucasian Knot" reported that Faramaz Allakhverdiev, a correspondent of the "Nota Bene" newspaper, arrested in Azerbaijan, had also announced a hunger strike and sewn up his mouth. In this way, Mr Allakhverdiev tried to protest against his arrest.
