Participants of Navalny's commemoration outraged by disclosure of personal data

The Volgograd residents, whose personal data were disclosed on air of the "Volgograd-1" TV channel, intend to file complaints with law enforcement bodies. Lawyers have pointed to signs of criminal offenses in TV channel's actions, which, under the guise of a journalistic investigation, publicized the names and workplaces the townspeople, who, after the death of Alexei Navalny, came with flowers to the monument to the victims of political repressions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Volgograd TV had disclosed the names of the people who had brought flowers in Navalny's memory, treating them as potential "saboteurs."

"They've shown me in the context of accusations of hostility and harm to the state and society. I consider this illegal and dangerous for myself," Vladimir Telpuk, one of the "heroes" of the TV show on the "Volgograd-1" TV channel, has stated.

The TV presenter also reported the personal information of Roman Melnichenko, a former associate professor with the Volgograd State University (VSU) and reminded viewers that in 2022, Melnichenko was fired from the VSU for his oppositional views.

"I treat what happened on this TV channel as a public defamation of unwanted citizens ... Most likely, many will be fired (from work) ... as they did it with me," Mr Melnichenko has noted.

Ivan Ivanov, a lawyer, has pointed out the illegal collection or dissemination of information about a person's private life without the person's consent.

"This is a violation of all conceivable ethical standards and the Criminal Code of Russia. This is unacceptable in a rule-of-law state," Mr Ivanov has stated.

Sergey Ivaschenko, a lawyer, has found signs of a crime under the article "Knowingly false denunciation" in the actions of the journalists of the "Volgograd-1" TV channel.
