Igor Sandjiev, mobilized from Kalmykia, fined for discrediting Russian Army

A court in Elista has found the statements made by Igor Sandjiev, a mobilized person, who had escaped from his military unit and left Russia, as discrediting the Russian Army and ordered him to pay a fine of 30,000 roubles.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Sandjiev filed an application for asylum in Kazakhstan, and he is now challenging the asylum denial.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Kalmykia has reported that videos had been posted on the Internet "in which a 47-year-old resident of Elista discredits the Russian Armed Forces during his interview."

Sandjiev has been put on the wanted list in Russia, the human rights project "OVD-Info"* has reported.
