Activist Garyaeva asks for protection from law enforcers' pressure and illegal persecution

Natalia Garyaeva, the leader of the "Poltavskaya against Dump" movement, has sent her appeals to the Russian Prosecutor General, the head of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) and the President, fearing that threats of violence against her would be carried out in the near future. According to her story, law enforcers entice her subordinates to slander her and prepare searches with provocation in the form of falsified "proofs".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 10, Garyaeva recorded a video appeal to the Russian President, complaining about unlawful persecution. According to her version, corrupt officials interested in prolonging the operation of the landfill in the village are trying to fabricate a criminal case against her.

According to Natalia, she had consulted with lawyers and considered that the video appeal would not be enough – the addressees would later be able to say that they were not aware thereof.

All the activists who have achieved the closure of the landfill are constantly afraid of provocations, Yuri Trubachev, Lyudmila Grishkova and Vadim Motovilov have stated. Lyudmila Grishkova has complained about the severe deterioration in her health, linking this with the stress and anxiety. Yuri Trubachev, a wheelchair invalid, has also attributes his illnesses, including those caused by nervousness, to the persecution and the impact of the landfill on the environment.

Natalia Garyaeva treats the district head, for whom the landfill was a profitable family business, to be the customer for persecuting her, and the chief of the local police is the executor of his orders.

She is afraid of provocations, such as planted narcotic drugs or pressure on the employees of the enterprise she heads, who refuse to denounce her.

Natalia has noted that she has been receiving threats since the end of 2023: the threat authors, including anonymous ones, threaten her with physical execution and criminal prosecution if she does not stop her civic activities.
