Residents of Malgobek criticize local authorities for problems with water supply

The emergency regime was introduced in Malgobek due to water deficit; both pumps at the water intake have failed, Mussa Galaev, the city Mayor, has stated. Telegram users have criticized local authorities for wearing out the equipment.

Mayor Galaev announced the introduction of a state of emergency due to the lack of water supply in his Telegram channel. According to his version, water supply problems arose on July 14, when one of the pumps at the water intake located in the rural settlement of Vezhariy-Yurt failed. The second pump failed the next morning. "Water is brought by tanks, although I believe that these measures are not enough; and we create inconvenience for people," Mr Galaev has confessed.

The city authorities have already ordered new pumps and an engine to restore the water supply, the Mayor has added.

Users of the Telegram channel of the Malgobek administration have criticized local authorities for allowing equipment to deteriorate to a critical state. "There is no need to wait for 100% depreciation; you need to control the situation! Tomorrow the same thing can happen with electrical substations and gas pipelines. There is no need to wait for depreciation, you need constant monitoring," the user Angela has noted.

Many users have noted that the declared bringing of water is not carried out.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Ingush villages had repeatedly complained about problems with water supply. In August 2022, residents of the Malgobek and Nazran Districts said that due to interruptions in the water supply in the summer, they had to buy drinking water and extract it from springs, although water supply fees had been charged as usual.
