Prisoner from Stavropol Territory sentenced to new term for giving oath to IS*

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don has sentenced Nikita Potselov to 10.5 years of freedom deprivation, taking into account his previous verdict. According to the Court, while in a Stavropol colony, he took the oath of allegiance to the leader of the "Islamic State"*.

Nikita Potselov has been convicted for participation in the activities of a terrorist organization, the press service of the Southern District Military Court has reported. According to the Court, he "under the influence of others decided to take part in the activities of the banned 'Islamic State', a terrorist organization, and on February 18, 2021, took an oath of allegiance to the head of the IS* by writing it down on a mobile phone and sending it over the Internet.

He has been sentenced by a combination of sentences in the form of imprisonment for the term of 10 years and 6 months. Earlier, a court in Moscow sentenced Potselov to 6.5 years in prison in a case of drug dealing. The underserved part of the sentence was 2 years and 9 months, the "Interfax" has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that a court in Rostov-on-Don had sentenced Nikolai Glazunov to 22 years in prison for swearing an oath to the leader of the IS* and involving prisoners in a Stavropol colony in the activities of the terrorist organization.

*On December 29, 2014, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation recognized the organization "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL or IS) as a terrorist international organization and banned its activities in Russia.
