Chechen authorities wage fight on violators of Chechen traditions in social networks

Authorities of Chechnya will monitor social networks and identify residents of the republic who ignore Chechen traditions. Any deviation from traditional norms in social networks will be suppressed, Khamzat Kadyrov, an advisor to the head of Chechnya, has promised.

"Unfortunately ... some members of our society on the Internet forget that they are Muslims and Chechens. A lot of obscene things happen in social networks ... I declare responsibly that any deviation from our traditions in social networks will be suppressed," the "Grozny Inform" outlet quotes him as saying.

Khamzat Kadyrov has pointed out that modern technologies make it possible to identify the owners of accounts in social networks.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that Chechen authorities are jealous of statements in social networks. Due to incorrect, according to the head of the republic, statements in social networks, the practice of public repentances has been introduced. Thus, on May 2, Movladi Mutaev, a resident of the village of Verkhniy Naur, complained to Ramzan Kadyrov in an audio appeal about the local authorities, who had ignored the problems of the village. Later, a video appeared in the network in which Mutaev apologized for his words to the head of Chechnya and to "the rest of the Muslims."

Residents of other Russian regions are also apologizing. In May 2021, a blogger from Perm, who had proposed to fire the head of Chechnya after forcing relatives of a Dagestani teenager to repent for a comment, recorded a video message in which he asked pardon from Kadyrov.
