Comparison of militaries with Tolkien's heroes turns into fine imposed on Dagestani resident

The court has treated the messages posted in the messenger by a resident of Dagestan, in which he compared the militaries of the Russian Army and fighters of the "Wagner" Private Military Company (PMC) with the heroes of John Ronald Tolkien's novel "The Lord of the Rings", as discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

Roman Obukhov, a guide from the Akhtynsky District of Dagestan, is accused of discrediting the Russian Army because of his posts in the messenger, in which he negatively characterized the Russian militaries, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports.

In court, Obukhov pleaded guilty, which the court treated as a mitigating circumstance. He was fined by 30,000 roubles, according to the website of the Akhtynsky District Court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that in the city of Derbent, law enforcers drew up a protocol on discrediting militaries against a local resident, Ramil Akhmedov. On June 4, the Kirovsky Court of Makhachkala returned the case of Timur Talkanov, accused of discrediting the Russian Army, back to the police. After the deficiencies were eliminated, the case was again submitted to the court for consideration.
