Participation in religious conference results in fining two Kuban residents

The court has fined Kirill and Ekaterina Ulitin, residents of Kuban (the Krasnodar Territory) for taking part in the conference of the international religious movement "New Generation"*, whose activities are recognized as undesirable in Russia.

The Ulitins, who are Evangelical Christians, have refused to plead guilty; and the court has fined them, the "Kavkaz.Realii"** project has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 13, 2023, the court sentenced Nikolai Bogoslavsky, the pastor of the Evangelical Church of Christ the Saviour in the city of Anapa, to a year in colony under the article on cooperation with an undesirable organization.

Also in March this year, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) communicated the complaints from seven activists from Kuban and Adygea, who claimed that they had been persecuted for their involvement in undesirable organizations.

Let us remind you that in 2020, a court in Krasnodar sentenced activist Yana Antonova to 240 hours of compulsory labour, finding her guilty within a criminal case on participation in the work of the "Open Russia"***, whose activities were recognized as undesirable in Russia. In December 2022, the ECtHR accepted the complaint against Antonova's sentence. Human rights defenders have treated this case as political persecution.
