Meeting in memory of Anna Politkovskaya held in Moscow

The participants of the meeting in memory of Anna Politkovskaya, which was held today in the Novopushkinskiy Mini-Park in Moscow on the birthday of the murdered journalist, have expressed hope that there are those true guilty among the detainees of the State Office of Public Prosecutor on suspicion of the murder of the journalist.

According to law enforcement bodies, some 250 persons came to the meeting in Anna Politkovskaya's memory. There were many foreign journalists and representatives of public organizations among the participants of the event.

We remind you that today the State Office of Public Prosecutor has neither confirmed nor refuted the information about release from custody of two suspects in the murder case of journalist Anna Politkovskaya, having referred to the secrecy of investigation.

It was informed earlier that the Russian State Office of Public Prosecutor released from custody two suspects of involvement in Anna Politkovskaya's murder (Alexei Berkin and Oleg Alimov). Meanwhile, Murad Musaev, the advocate of a suspect that remains in custody, believes that this release was caused by the fact that these suspects had relation to special agencies.
