ECtHR communicates complaints of seven activists from Kuban and Adygea

Among the 82 residents of Russia, whose complaints about persecutions in connection with involvement in undesirable organizations communicated by the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), there were seven residents of Kuban (the Krasnodar Territory) and Adygea.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 16, 2022, Russia ceased to be a party to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). At the same time, cases received from Russians by the ECtHR before March 16, 2022, must be considered.

On March 24, Krasnodar activists received confirmation from the ECtHR that their complaints filed in 2018-2020 had been communicated. The applicants include seven residents of the Krasnodar Territory and Adygea: Alexander Safronov from Yeysk, Andrei Rudomakha from Maykop, Natalia Brusova from Sochi, and Yana Antonova, Marina Zaprudina, Leonid Malyavin and Evgeny Grekov from Krasnodar.

Alexander Safronov, an activist of the "Yabloko" Party, reposted a video from the social network page of Yana Antonova, the coordinator of the Krasnodar branch of the "Open Russia"*, after which a case was opened against him for involvement in an "undesirable organization."

According to Alexander, for the first time he sees that the ECtHR has united so many people into one group. "This once again proves that there are big problems with human rights in Russia," he said.

Yana Antonova, an activist from Krasnodar, believes that the situation with glasnost and the human rights defence in Russia will change for the better.

The complaints submitted by Andrei Rudomakha, an ecologist, are related to the searches in his home and the office of the "Ecowatch".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 23, the ECtHR ruled on the claims of 15 activists who had complained about the disproportionate measures taken by law enforcers during the dispersal of protests, as well as about the arrests and imposed fines.
