Activist Sultanbegova detained in Krasnodar

In Krasnodar, law enforcers have detained Alipat Sultanbegova, who, on the anniversary of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, laid flowers at the monument to the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko.

In March 2022, Sultanbegova reported that she had served her arrest twice within a month: 20 days the first time and 10 days for the second one. At the temporary detention centres (known as IVS) in Krasnodar, detainees are deprived of their legal walks and phone calls to relatives, and the cells are cold and have no hot water, Alipat has complained.

On February 25, 2022, the court arrested Sultanbegova for 20 days after detention at an action against the SMO in Ukraine. On March 18, she was punished with 10 days of arrest for reposting messages in a social network, in which the court saw negative statements against the police.

Before detention on February 24 this year, in a social network, Alipat shared her feelings on the first anniversary of the start of the SMO in Ukraine the human rights project "OVD-Info"* reports in its Telegram channel.

While at the IVS, policemen used to read out Stepan Bandera's biography and played "patriotic" songs, Sultanbegova has stated. She was also asked why she had not left Russia and what the poster she put next to the flowers "Forgive us, Ukraine" meant.

According to Alexei Avanesyan, an advocate, the check is being carried out under the article on discrediting the Russian Army, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project informs. Given the fact that a protocol was already drawn up against Sultanbegova in March 2022 on army discrediting, the likelihood of her criminal prosecution, according to Avanesyan, is "very high," the "Sota" outlet reports.

Let us add that on February 24, 2023, Sergey Tkachov, a resident of Volgograd, was detained by law enforcers after he laid flowers at the memorial urns of the hero cities of Kyiv and Odessa on the Mamaev Kurgan in Volgograd. According to the Sergey, he was released but ordered to appear for a prophylactic conversation.
