Alaudinov, commander of Chechen special forces, discharged from hospital after poisoning

Apti Alaudinov, the commander of the "Akhmat" special unit, has been discharged from a Moscow hospital where he was treated after an attempt to poison him.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 13 it became known that Alaudinov was hospitalized after an attempt to poison him. He said that an envelope with some poisonous substance was delivered by a person, whom his adjutants mistook for a state courier. People from Alaudinov's entourage may stand behind his attempted poisoning. It is possible that the assassination attempt was organized by Ukrainian intelligence services, analysts have noted.

Earlier, Apti Alaudinov told the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, that the envelope with the poisonous substance had a pungent odour. The head of Chechnya promised to avenge the attempted poisoning.

"After a few days, I must leave for the place of my service and continue working in the name of protecting the interests of the Fatherland," the TASS has quoted Alaudinov as saying. He has specified that he was in Grozny, the RIA "Novosti" has reported.

Let us remind you that on March 18, 2021, Alaudinov was dismissed from the post of a deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Police Chief) of Chechnya. This happened amid the resonance from the publication by the "Novaya Gazeta" of a story of a former soldier of the "Kadyrov" regiment, who became an eyewitness to extrajudicial executions in Chechnya. Alaudinov personally persecuted dissidents on trumped-up cases and intimidated critics of the authorities; in this context he is known in Chechnya as a cruel person, human rights defenders have noted.
