Nalchik woman limited in rights to her son at lawsuit of her own mother

The Nalchik City Court restricted a local woman’s rights to her one-year-old son, considering that it would be better for the child. A lawsuit to restrict the parental rights of the child’s mother was filed to the court by the boy’s grandmother, who reported the antisocial behaviour of her daughter.

The grandmother claimed that her daughter, born in 1998, began to use alcoholic drinks and drugs and that she does not want to be treated for addiction.

The grandmother believes that the mother of the child is not able to take care of her one-year-old boy. Moreover, according to the grandmother, her daughter is a danger to own son. The father of the child lives in Moscow. “The fact that she leads an immoral lifestyle is confirmed by the video that she has sent to her husband through her mobile phone,” the woman wrote.

The grandmother points out that her daughter’s behaviour had a negative impact on the health of the child.

The guardianship authorities considered the claim justified, based on the interests of the child.

“One of the reasons for restricting parental rights is the alcohol and drug addiction of one of the parents,” notes advocate Elena Bairamkulova.

The advocate recalled the tragic incident that happened in Nalchik in July 2021, when a partner of a woman killed her nine-year-old daughter by hitting her head on the floor. According to the investigators’ version, the mother of the girl tried to save her partner and describe her daughter’s death as an accident. After the arrest of the stepfather, the remaining five children were removed from the family.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in April 2021, investigators suspected a woman from Kabardino-Balkaria of regularly beating her minor son. Lawyers noted that the guardianship authorities were not aware of the problems in the family.
