Dagestani Murad Mirzakhanov's relatives demand to punish law enforcers for torturing him

Law enforcers have fabricated a criminal case against Murad Mirzakhanov from Makhachkala and tortured him, but his relatives' complaints yield no results, Murad's mother has stated, and his defence has pointed to gross errors in the criminal case.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Murad Mirzakhanov was detained on November 24, 2020. According to Israfil Gadadov, his advocate, law enforcers had put pressure on him in order to force him to confess to possession of weapons and narcotic drugs.

According to investigators, law enforcers stopped Mirzakhanov to check his documents and during the search they found drugs and a pistol with cartridges on him. In his testimony, Mirzakhanov noted that he had found the pistol by accident, and found the drugs "under a stone near a tree." His defence claims that he had given these testimonies under duress.

Vidadi Badalov, the second Mirzakhanov's advocate, has pointed out that there are many inconsistencies in the official version of the detention. "Judging by the time, the pistol and drugs were found before the search had even begun," the advocate has emphasized, the "Kavkaz. Realii"* project has reported. Law enforcers knew for sure that Mirzakhanov "would end up" in the pre-indicated place with the pistol and the drugs, the advocate has added.

Bike Mirzakhanova, Murad's mother, believes that law enforcers had put pressure on her son and planted the firearm and drugs on him.

She said that relatives had submitted complaints to law enforcement bodies about Murad's torture, but the check concluded that his rights were not violated.
