PO reacts to activist's complaint about construction in Makhachkala park

The coordination of the documents that allow the improvement of the territory adjacent to the kindergarten in the Lenin Komsomol Park has been cancelled, the Makhachkala Prosecutor's Office (PO) has stated in response to the appeal by Madina Ibragimova, an activist of the "City Is Ours" movement.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the construction of pavilions in the above park had caused alarm among Makhachkala townspeople. Cutting down trees and building pavilions in the park are unacceptable, Instagram* users have pointed out. They demanded from city authorities to stop construction in green areas.

The PO's answer to Madina Ibragimova's appeal says that "measures are being taken to dismantle the structures."

Madina has recalled her first appeal to the PO regarding this object. Despite her presentation addressed to the city Mayor, the construction in the park was not stopped.

Amina, another activist of the city movement, said that activists would continue seeking the dismantling of the children's playground, erected by the kindergarten in the park. She has noted that she stands for the removal of all commercial booths outside the park, so that the territory is intended only for walking and recreation.

Arsen Magomedov, a lawyer and an activist of the "City Is Ours" movement, believes that the practice of directing appeals to supervisory authorities is correct, although such appeals not always give results. It depends on the persistence of a particular applicant whether the demands will be met in each specific case, Mr Magomedov has added.

Ziyautdin Uvaisov, the head of the human rights organization "Housing and Public Utilities Monitor", believes that activists should always contact the PO and regulatory authorities. He has treated the people's conclusions about the futility of such appeals as harmful.
