Ingush Imam's pacifist statement results in call to military commissariat

The Ingush Imam, whose statement about the military operation in Ukraine has attracted the attention of the republic's vice-premier, received a call to the military commissariat (registration and enlistment office), but refused to accept the summons, a source has informed. Ingush authorities are trying to cope with the mobilization plan by calling up even those who had not served in the army, local residents inform.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Ingushetia, an audio record caused resonance, in which Magomed Evloev, the republic's vice-premier, reproached municipality heads for their failure in the mobilization, in Ingushetia, since only 12 people have been mobilized in the republic. Evloev's words have aroused dissatisfaction among members of the Council of Teips (family clans) of Ingushetia; after which the official apologized for his statements.

Evloev has also criticized the Imam for his statement that taking part in hostilities in Ukraine is "haram", that is forbidden from the Islam viewpoint.

The Ingush Imam expressed his negative attitude towards the military operation, while returning from the funeral of the person who had perished in Ukraine, a source has informed, adding that after Evloev's reaction, the 50-year-old Imam received a summons to the commissariat.

At the start of the special operation, Musa Abadiev, the head of the Association of Muslims of Ingushetia, called on the Ingushes not to take part therein, even under fear of criminal prosecution.

The Ingush people know what the consequences of "operations" are, Mr Abadiev has explained. “This is the deportation that many country's nations were subjected to, including Ingushes. These are the events of 1992, the Ossetian-Ingush conflict, when hundreds of Ingushes perished and many had gone missing; over 30 years have passed since, but many problems are still pending," he said.

Many residents of Ingushetia condemn the military operation in Ukraine and do not seek mobilization, Mr Abadiev has concluded.

Ismail Mankiev, a resident of the village of Dolakovo, has noted that he had not heard that any sons or close relatives of high-ranking officials had been mobilized.
