Analysts note decrease in protest level in Kuban amid mobilization

Protests against the partial mobilization in Kuban (Krasnodar Territory) have practically vanished, which is due both to the tightening of legislation and the outflow of protest masses, Andrei Gusij, a journalist, believes, commenting on an attempt to set fire to the commissariat (military enlistment office) in Goryachy Klyuch. Protest moods persist among small population groups amid the majority's neutral attitude to authorities, Gennady Podlesny, a political analyst, has noted.

On October 6, an unknown man set fire to the building of the military commissariat in the town of Goryachy Klyuch; the staff managed to suppress the fire before the fire-fighters' arrival.

The dynamics of protests in the Krasnodar Territory amid the mobilization indicates a decrease in intensity, said Andrei Gusij, the editor of the RIA "FederalPress".

Earlier, the region saw cases of damage to cars of supporters of the special military operation (SMO).

Participants in such protest actions can be motivated from outside, since there are no internal factors in the Krasnodar Territory that could provoke a confrontation with the authorities, Gennady Podlesny, the director of the Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization (ANCO) "Centre for Applied Sociology and Political Science", a member of the Public Chamber of the Krasnodar Territory, believes.

The problem of absence in the society of discussion on socially significant issues is present, but in the case of illegal actions, we are not talking about an alternative opinion, since this method does not contribute to the discussion itself, Mr Podlesny has noted.

People take actions that deserve condemnation out of fear of negative consequences for the society, Alexei Todorenko, the head of the "Russia's Civil Committee" Public Movement in the Southern Federal District (SFD).

He believes that it is wrong on the part of the authorities to ban pacifist appeals, as this negatively affects the country's image.

He also treats the polarization of the society, the creation of the image of people's enemies and traitors as a dangerous trend.
