Defence convinces court to return Ibragim Gadjiev’s case to Prosecutor’s Office

In Makhachkala, a court has agreed with the arguments of the defence about violations in a case against former policeman Ibragim Gadjiev and returned the case to the Prosecutor’s Office.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Ibragim Gadjiev, a former employee of the operational-and-investigative unit of the internal security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan, has been arrested since April 2, 2021. Ibragim Gadjiev was also accused of kidnapping an entrepreneur for ransom and robbery. Advocate Sapiyat Magomedova stated that the new accusation “was invented urgently, in case the court would release Ibragim Gadjiev in the courtroom.”

The Leninsky District Court of Makhachkala has returned the criminal case against Ibragim Gadjiev to the Prosecutor’s Office, the advocate reports. According to the advocate, the defence filed an appropriate motion because of numerous violations committed during the investigation into the case. The advocate explained that Ibragim Gadjiev was charged with “half of the Criminal Code,” including robbery, illegal possession of drugs and weapons, and kidnapping, the “Kavkaz.Realii”* reports.

Let us remind you that on March 31, 2021, the police conducted a search in Ibragim Gadjiev’s house, during which they seized a pistol, rounds, and drugs.

Ibragim Gadjiev demanded through the court to recognize the actions of the police during the search in his house as unfounded and to recover a million roubles from the Ministry of Internal Affairs as compensation for non-pecuniary damage.

Ibragim Gadjiev is a witness in a case against Raip Ashikov, the former Makhachkala police chief, and his brother Ziyavudin Ashikov, the former acting head of the Kaspiysk police department, who are accused of financing terrorism and attempting to assassinate a law enforcer.
