Dagestani Ombudsperson calls on opponents of mobilization to go to Ukraine

Residents of Dagestan should not try to avoid mobilization by taking part in protest actions, but take part in the special operation, Djamal Aliev, the republic's Ombudsperson, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 26, an anti-mobilization message appeared on the website of the Dagestani Ombudsperson, who then stated that the website was hacked by someone with the aim to incite residents of the republic to illegal actions.

In Makhachkala, actions against mobilization have been held since September 25. On that day, law enforcers violently dispersed the protesters; and according to human rights defenders, 101 people were detained. On the following day, their relatives gathered at the police station. Rights defenders reported that about 100 people were detained after this action. While detaining people, law enforcers acted excessively cruelly; the detainees spent the whole night at the police station in totally unsuitable conditions, Idris Yusupov, a journalist, has reported.

Djamal Aliev, the Ombudsperson, has appealed to those "who have succumbed to provocations." He stated that Dagestan was "historically famous for its most skilful and ferocious warriors," urging the protesters to "rethink what has happened," go to the special operation zone and "die for the Motherland, for the nation and the president."

Let us remind you that on September 26, the head of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, stated that the protests in Makhachkala had been prepared "from abroad." Most Telegram users were distrustful of Melikov's words. Following him, Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, the republic's prime minister, said that the anti-mobilization protests in Dagestan had been inspired from abroad; and the local Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) explained the violent dispersal of protesters by their aggressiveness.
