Republics of Northern Caucasus top rating of population's healthy lifestyle

Dagestan and Chechnya have occupied top places in the rating of the population's commitment to a healthy lifestyle. The top five places are also occupied by Kabardino-Balkaria and Adygea.

Today, on September 19, the RIA "Novosti" has released the rating of Russian regions in terms of the population's commitment to the healthy lifestyle. Eight indicators are taken as the basis, namely, the consumption of alcohol and tobacco products, the spread of narcotic substances; going in for sports; and working conditions. All the absolute indicators were calculated per an adult living in the respective region. The result is the rating score ranging from 1 to 100 points.

The rating allows concluding that the post-pandemic period has forced residents of Russia to more actively engage in healthy lifestyle: in 77 regions the rating score has increased; in seven, however, it went down; while in the Crimea, it remained the same. The most significant increase is in Karachay-Cherkessia (plus 11.8 points). Among the regions of Southern Russia, a significant increase is also in Kalmykia – by 8.7 points.

The absolute leaders of the rating with a big gap are Dagestan (98.4 points) and Chechnya (94.6 points). The third and fourth places belong to Kabardino-Balkaria (86.2 points) and Adygea (84.4 points).
