Organizers refuse to hold festival of shorts in Makhachkala after public outcry

It was decided not to hold a festival of shorts, announced in a Makhachkala café. This was reported by organizers of the festival, who explained the decision by a noticeable public outcry. The scandalous event could lead to conflicts, noted the press secretary for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that social media users met with indignation the intention of the Makhachkala “Dom.15” café to hold a festival of shorts on September 3. In this regard, the café announced a change in the format of the event, calling it a “festival of long shorts.”

On the evening of September 1, the “Dom.15” café announced on its page in Instagram* the decision to abandon holding the festival of shorts. “We apologize for the whole story around the festival of shorts. We honestly did not expect that the event would cause such an outcry on a republican scale. On September 3, we decided to take a break and take a day off so that there were no incidents based on misunderstandings,” the “Dom.15” café announced on its Instagram* page.

Gayana Garieva, the press secretary for the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan, drew her attention to the above message. Today, in her personal “Gayana Live” Telegram channel, the Dagestani MIA’s press secretary has emphasized that the organizers of the event “made the most prudent decision.”

“A compromise reached during the dialogue is the best solution. By the way, bloggers offered a lot of money for a video from the scene, when a crowd of indignant people would break into the café in order to smash and ‘clean up’ everything. It’s good that nothing of that kind happened,” Dagestani MIA’s press secretary has noted.
