Chechen Minister of Press treats opponents of Jony's concert as provocateurs

Akhmed Dudaev, the Minister of Press and Information of Chechnya, has labelled those who oppose the concert of Jony, a singer of Azerbaijani origin, and other shows held in the republic as provocateurs. He has invited his opponents to come to a square in Grozny.

Minister Dudaev has invited those who oppose the Jony's concert in Grozny to a conversation in one of Grozny squares; on this occasion on August 30, he posted a 9-minute-long video on his Telegram channel. Dudaev has urged everyone who is against any cultural events in Chechnya to meet and discuss all claims on August 31 in the square in front of the Celebrations House named after Dagun Omaev, says the caption to the video.

"Many well-known people come to our republic; the day before it was reported that the singer Jony, who is an Azerbaijani by nationality, and also a Muslim, will come to Grozny with a concert. He performs in Turkey, the UAE, etc. However, some "pseudo-Imams" began making statements on the Internet that his visit to our republic is a great shame and it can't be allowed," the "Chechnya Today" Telegram channel has translated Dudaev's words.

The concert was criticized by the Chechen oppositional Telegram channel "Niyso". "According to the basics of the path of Akhmat Kadyrov, Chechen youth should be educated at Timati's and Jony's concerts, as well as at the battles of half-naked men. And these people then teach others about religion and Adats," says the August 29 message.
