Twelve Ingush policemen sentenced

A court sentenced Ingush policemen, accused of disobeying an order to disperse protesters in Magas in March 2019, to a year and a half of suspended imprisonment.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that since January 31, in Zheleznovodsk, a court has been considering the case against 12 policemen, accused of disobeying an order to disperse protesters in Magas in 2019. Lawyers interviewed by the “Caucasian Knottreated the case against the Ingush policemen as biased and called the defendants’ actions during the rally legal and professional.

Today, the Zheleznovodsk City Court has pronounced the verdict in the case against fighters of a separate battalion of the patrol-and-post police service. All the defendants were sentenced to 1 year and 6 months of suspended imprisonment, although the judge “added to the sentence the motive of political enmity or hatred towards the republic’s authorities,” the Human Rights Protection Centre “Memorial” reports today.
