War veteran hospitalized in Azerbaijan after attempt of public suicide

Tebriz Abdullaev, a participant in the Karabakh war, was hospitalized after a suicide attempt that he tried to commit near the building of the executive power in Azerbaijan. Doctors treat his condition as grave.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that veterans of the Karabakh war living in Azerbaijan have repeatedly complained about their poor social conditions and authorities' insufficient attention to their problems. On March 28, participants in the rally in Baku stated that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) wouldn't assign the veteran status to participants in the hostilities in Karabakh, which deprives them of the right to due benefits.

The 33-year-old Tebriz Abdullaev tried to commit suicide in front of the building of the executive power of the Samukh District, the "Haqqin.az" outlet has reported. He received burns of 75-80% of his body surface.

Let us remind you that in July this year, Elvin Djafarov, a participant in the 2020 Karabakh war, who tried to commit suicide near the building of the executive power of the Sabirabad District, died.

After being wounded, Djafarov could not find a job with a good salary; he turned to officials for help for several times, and his unresolved problems finally led to his death, the veteran's brother has stated.

Azerbaijani authorities are offering low-paid jobs, like builders and waiters, to veterans of the Karabakh war and to members of the families of those who perished there, war veterans complained in October 2021.
