Residents of Malgobek complain about smoke from a burning garbage landfill

Since July, local residents have been complaining about smoke coming from burning waste at a Malgobek landfill. However, the requests for elimination of fires addressed to the regional operator “Ecosystem”, which is an owner of the Malgobek landfill, remain unanswered.

The landfill in Malgobek has been burning since late July, and the local “Ingushetia” TV Company reported on the facts of the fire.

In late July, during Friday prayers, Ibragim Batyrov, the imam of the central mosque of Malgobek, addressed Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, the leader of the republic. Ibragim Batyrov said in his appeal that landfills were burning in the Malgobek District and that people had to breathe the polluted air.

In their comments under the video with the imam’s appeal posted on July 25 by the “Fortanga” Telegram channel, social media users wrote that they did not expect the authorities to solve the problems.

“It burns and poisons us, because we all know where and who got that billion roubles,” user Imran believes. “[the authorities] do nothing, because they are not interested in solving the problem.” “And the landfill is still on fire, and we are short of air to breathe in such a heat. And no one cares, the authorities of the city, and the leader of the republic sits high, far away. He has no time for solving the problems,” user Marem Bulg writes.

“The newspaper ‘Ingushetia’ posted an article about the recultivation of the landfill in Malgobek, and the plan, according to them, has been implemented by 84%. Now it is clear why it is on fire. That means 84% of the garbage have already burned down. But how long will it still be burning? We probably will not live as 100% of the garbage is burned down,” commented a user without a nickname.
