The unidentified persons who attacked the Azerbaijani Embassy to the United Kingdom raised religious flags and shouted radical religious slogans from the balcony of the building, the Azeri Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has stated.

After the intervention of the local police, the unidentified attackers were taken out of the building and detained, the report says. There were no casualties among the embassy staff as a result of the incident, the MFA has added.

The APA's bureau has specified referring to the London police that eight people were detained in connection with the attack on the Azeri Embassy in London.

Diplomatic sources have stated that "special services of one of the Shiite states" were involved in the incident. "Responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Shiite extremist organization, the 'Union of Makhdi's Servants'. The union was created by Shiite clerics, natives of Kuwait, who have recently settled in London," the "haqqın.az" outlet has quoted its sources.
