Opposition accuses Armenian authorities of arbitrariness

During a protest action in Yerevan, activists stated that the government chaired by Nikol Pashinyan was lobbying the interests of Turkey and Azerbaijan.

The protest action against the authorities’ ban on the entry of members of the diaspora to the country was organized by the youth wing of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation “Dashnaktsutyun” (ARFD).

The protesters accused the authorities of lobbying the interests of Turkey and Azerbaijan, which demanded from Armenia to isolate the diaspora in making decisions on national issues. In their hands, the protesters were holding banners condemning the ban on the entry to the country of members of the European bodies of the ARF. The opposition supporters left the posters on the steps at the entrance to the complex of government offices. The protest action ended without incidents, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent reports with reference to the broadcast of the protest action on the “Yerkir.am” YouTube channel.

“This is the arbitrariness of the authorities, who are taking revenge for the political position and disagreement with the policy of territorial concessions,” Kristine Vardanyan, an MP from the “Hayastan” faction, told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

According to her, “the authorities are trying to isolate those who resist the Nikol Pashinyan’s treacherous policy.” “The authorities are trying to drive a wedge into relations with the diaspora, which is unacceptable. The Nikol Pashinyan’s government serves the interests of Turkey and Azerbaijan,” the opposition MP stated.

Let us remind you that on July 13, the authorities of Armenia banned the entry to the country of Murad Papazyan, the spokesperson for the ARF Bureau, the co-chair of the Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations of France, who was deported back to France. Murad Papazyan said that he was not allowed into the country on the personal instructions of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
