A video of a girl being beaten in Chechnya provokes a discussion on social media about children upbringing and traditions

When commenting on a video in which an adult woman attacked a 12-year-old girl, some users pointed out that parents should take better care of their children upbringing. Other users noted in their comments that such behaviour by an adult woman was unacceptable and failed to comply with Chechen traditions.

A video of an adult woman beating a teenage girl was posted in several Chechen public accounts.

In the video, the participants of the conflict speak Chechen, and the translation was made by the “Caucasian Knot”. The woman approached a group of children and asked who of them was called Iman. After they pointed to a girl, the woman asked her: “Is it you who wants to woo away a someone’s boyfriend?” “Nobody wants to woo away any boyfriend. Go away,” the girl replied, after which, judging by the sounds, the woman hit her.

In their comments, some users condemned the girl and her parents. “Has anyone noticed that the so-called child pushed (the woman) first?” user Lyalya Alero wrote. “I want to tell the author that you also raised a child who not only uses bad words in a dialogue, but also screams like that in front of everyone,” another user noted.

Other users disagreed with the above position. “Well, children now behave in such a way, they are sharp-tongued. But this is not a reason to beat a child, and not an excuse. The adult woman must control herself. The girl is 12 years old, and she can somehow be justified (...), but there are no excuses for this adult woman,” user Borzoi Shatoi Grozny objected.

Some users indicated that such cases were a consequence of the separation from the roots. “These are not Chechens, but simply Chechen-speaking people. These are people who do not know (...) their roots,” user madnes_s_soul emphasized.
