Krasnodar townspeople demand authorities' reaction to flooded streets

After a rainstorm, the Muzykalny micro-district in Krasnodar was flooded, while officials and communal services gave no reaction to the calamity, local residents have complained. Other townspeople have noted, in the "VKontakte" social network, that flooding of city neighbourhoods occurs regularly because of the failed storm water draining pipelines.

After a heavy rain, the above Muzykalny micro-district was flooded. Local residents cannot come out of their houses; but, according to them, communal workers would not come to pump out water, the Bloknot Krasnodar" has informed today.

People have to walk knee-deep in water to reach a store or a pharmacy.

A video clip showing several flooded Krasnodar localities was also posted in the "VKontakte" social network in the "Typical Krasnodar" group. It depicts a woman walking in water reaching above her ankles.

"I immediately want to ask where our Mayor is? He was driving around the city, trying to put things in order, when people made spontaneous garbage dumps. But the fact that our storm water drains can't cope with a rain at all – doesn't he know that?" the user Irina Goncharova wrote in her comments to the video.

"Our storm water drainage pipes in Krasnodar have long been driving along its streets in the form of brand new cars," Slava Pospelov has written ironically.

"People are outraged that there are no elementary things such as normal roads, storm water drains, social facilities, and so on. After all, no one writes that we want air-conditioned stops or heated sidewalks in winter," Ruslan Kirov has emphasized.
