Murtazali Medjidov sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment for killing a female student

The jury found Murtuzali Medjidov, a son of the former Prime Minister of Dagestan, guilty of murdering a female MGIMO (Moscow State Institute of Foreign Relations) student from Kazakhstan. A court sentenced the defendant to 13 years of imprisonment, the press service of the court reports today.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on June 8, 2021, the Nikulinsky Court of Moscow acquitted basing on a jury verdict Murtuzali Medjidov on the charge of murdering a female student. In October 2021, the Moscow City Court cancelled the Murtuzali Medjidov’s acquittal and sent the case to the same court for reconsideration.

Murtuzali Medjidov, a son of Mukhtar Medjidov, the former chair of the Dagestani government, was charged with the murder of Tomiris Baisafa, a 21-year-old MGIMO student from Kazakhstan, in April 2018. She was found under windows of the university, ambulance took her to hospital, but doctors were not able to save her. According to the investigators’ version, Murtuzali Medjidov beat the student and then pushed her out of a window of the fourth floor of the university.

The jury found Murtuzali Medjidov guilty of killing the student, the press service of the court reports today. “Based on the unanimous verdict of the jury, Murtuzali Medjidov was found guilty of the murder, and he was sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony,” reported the press service of the court as quoted by the TASS.
