"Borjomi" strikers sign agreement with company bosses

The "Borjomi" workers have managed to achieve the fulfilment of the majority of their demands, while the company bosses did not agree to pay them compensations for the strike period.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the strike of workers of two mineral water bottling factories located in the town of Borjomi began on May 31. The strikers demanded better working conditions and the reinstatement of their laid-off colleagues.

An agreement was signed between the "Borjomi" workers and the company top managers; the meeting was attended by a mediator, the director of the labour inspectorate, the management of the "IDS Borjomi Georgia" Company and striking workers, the TV-9 Channel has reported on its website on June 21.

Out of the 50 fired workers, 48 will be reinstated; however, the two remaining – the chairman and deputy chairman of the trade union – were denied reinstatement.

The workers of the "Borjomi" factories have managed to achieve the fulfilment of about 90% of their demands, the "News-Georgia" reported on June 21.

However, the company bosses have refused to pay compensations to workers for the strike period. For this reason, 15 workers intend to file a collective lawsuit to the court.
