Idea of creating a national park on Chechen-Ingush border raises questions of social media users

The idea to create the “Daimokhk” National Park arises from the desire of the Chechen side to gain control over the lands of the nature reserve in Ingushetia, residents of Ingushetia share their fears on Instagram*.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the idea of creating the “Daimokhk” National Park on the Chechen-Ingush border creates a risk of resuming territorial disputes and needs to be improved, since the creation of the park should not look like a transfer of Ingush lands to the Chechen side, specialists interviewed by the “Caucasian Knot” pointed out.

The opinions of experts, voiced to the “Caucasian Knot”, were posted in the Instagram* public account “News of Ingushetia” on June 19. In their comments under the post, social media users suggested there was a claim to part of the Ingush lands behind the idea to create a national park in Chechnya.

“The Ramzan Kadyrov’s appetite is growing. It will be better if he calms down, otherwise everything will be deplorable,” user wild0528, in particular, suggested. “It seems that we are being handed over to Chechnya bit by bit,” wrote user hadiza.hadiza. “It’s time for us to wake up. And to prove to someone who is who, otherwise Ingushetia will be in the power of Ramzan Kadyrov soon,” user umar_ibn_al_hattab_06 expressed his opinion.

“If the Chechen authorities take control over this nature reserve, then, respectively, the monuments of the cultural heritage of the Ingush people will also come under control of Chechnya, and, respectively, the actual appropriation of the material Ingush history will begin,” suggested user corvus40.
