Residents of Ingushetia point to problems unresolved within 30 years

Amid the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ingushetia, local residents have pointed out that problems with housing for forced migrants, unemployment, and restoration of enterprises have remained unresolved in the republic since the 1990s.

“We are being evicted again,” was the first thing Lida Tsurova told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent, whose family members, like members of 15 other families, live in barracks on Fabrichnaya Street in Nazran.

On June 1, the Magas District Court granted the demand of the Nazran City Mayoralty to evict from the barracks on Fabrichnaya Street eight families of forced migrants who came from the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia. The residents of the barracks said that they had nowhere to go, since they were not provided with alternative housing and they were not able to buy it with the money allocated for refugees.

“Today, the republic has a jubilee, 30 years since Ingushetia was formed. And we have a jubilee: exactly so many years we have been living in wagons that have collapsed, and for 24 years we have been living in the barracks in which there are no conditions for normal living,” said Lida Tsurova.

On the eve of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the restoration of the Republic of Ingushetia, workers and employees of Joint-Stock Company (JSC) “RN Ingushneft” gathered at a working meeting, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent was informed by Anzhela Matieva, the chair of the trade union.

“But our workers gathered not only to celebrate the anniversary of the revival of the Ingush statehood. Now our company is going through far from the best of times. Our managers constantly talk about the threat of bankruptcy. They have decided that it is possible to improve the economic situation at the enterprise by reducing the number of specialists, instead of optimizing costs in other directions,” the leader of the trade union said.
