Colleagues of journalist Gadjiev hold solo pickets in Makhachkala

Dagestani journalists held three solo pickets in Makhachkala with the demand to release Abdulmumin Gadjiev. The picketers advocated the release of political prisoners.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that journalists regularly hold solo pickets in Makhachkala in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an arrested journalist of the weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft). On April 18, two pickets in his support caused an approving reaction from city residents.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the “Ansar” charity foundation, and Kemal Tambiev were accused of financing terrorism. Abdulmumin Gadjiev states he is not guilty, while his colleagues consider the persecution of the journalist to be pressure on him.

“Our demands to the authorities remain the same: freedom for Abdulmumin Gadjiev! Termination of the absurd criminal case against our colleague!” states the “Chernovik” in its Telegram channel.

The pickets were held by three colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev. Meanwhile, Idris Yusupov, a correspondent of the “Novoye Delo” (New Clause), also demanded to release political prisoners.
