Azerbaijan reports skirmish on Armenian border

From the territory of the Vardenis District, Armenian militaries have shelled the positions of Azerbaijani militaries deployed in the Kelbadjar District. Azerbaijani soldiers opened returned fire, the country's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Armenia and Azerbaijan are periodically exchanging accusations of shelling on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. On May 1, the Azerbaijani MoD stated that on April 30, in the Gegarkunik Region, Armenian militaries shelled, heavy machine guns, the positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed in the Kelbadjar District. The Armenian MoD has refuted this information.

According to Baku, on May 1, the shelling was conducted from the positions of the Armenian Army located in the border Basarkechar District of Armenia (the Vardenis District of the Gegarkunik Region, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"). Azerbaijani militaries had to open return fire; there were no casualties or wounded persons.
