About 100 citizens of Armenia decide to move to homeland from Ukraine

After the start of the special operation of Russian militaries in Ukraine, Armenians applied for resettlement to their homeland, the office of the Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of Armenia has informed.

On February 27, Armenia announced its readiness to accept refugees from Ukraine. As of March 3, 1500 Armenian citizens had turned to the embassy in Ukraine for help.

About 100 Armenians from Ukraine have applied for moving to Armenia, the above Office has informed; these citizens have already left Ukraine for the territory of the European Union (EU) or Moldova.

As a result of hostilities in Ukraine, one citizen of Armenia perished, said David Mkrtchyan, a deputy head of the Union of Armenians of Ukraine, specifying that "the deceased was a civilian from Kherson, Vage Sogomonyan."

In Kharkov, where a lot of Armenians live, the evacuation of compatriots is organized, Mr Mkrtchyan has added. "While leaving the city, Armenians of Kharkov got into encirclement; our volunteer groups took these people in their cars to safer regions," he has explained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on February 24, at their rally held in front of the Russian Embassy, members of the European Party of Armenia demanded to stop the special operation in Ukraine.
