Delimkhanov justifies threats against deputy after his conflict with Chechen woman

Alexander Zakuskin, a Moscow deputy, has admitted, in his conversation with Adam Delimkhanov, a State Duma MP from Chechnya, that he "overdid it" during the incident with an elderly Chechen woman and announced his apology. Delimkhanov, in response to Zakuskin's words about the threats, said that they would not end until the issue was resolved.

Salima Yusupkhadjieva, a native of Chechnya, who was selling sausage at the Moscow mosque, suffered after Zakuskin sprayed something at her face; the police ignored the call, Elena Aruchidi, an activist, has complained. Zakuskin threatened the woman with deportation; and in response to an attempt to show him a Russian passport, he took out a spray can.

Elvira Vikhareva, a politician, posted on the Facebook a video appeal to the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, in which she asked if he would react to the incident and if Adam Delimkhanov would record the video. "Or is it possible only about human rights defenders?" she has asked.

Delimkhanov has phoned Zakuskin, who admitted that he "had overdone it," promised to apologize and told about the threats.

Earlier, Elena Milashina, a journalist of the "Novaya Gazeta" newspaper, pointed to Delimkhanov's links with the criminal world, and the growing influence of Chechens in the Russian criminal world.
