Resident of Ingushetia suspected of aiding Syrian militants

A woman from Ingushetia stays in Syria and is engaged in preparing food for militants of the “Islamic State” (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”) and providing medical treatment to them, investigators suspect.

A resident of Ingushetia is suspected of involvement in the activities of a terrorist organization and participation in an illegal armed formation (IAF) on the territory of a foreign state. According to the investigators’ version, in May 2016, a 41-year-old resident of Ingushetia arrived in the Syrian city of Raqqa, where she joined an IS unit. “The suspect performs the functions of cooking, housekeeping, providing medical care and caring for wounded militants participating in the battles against Syrian government forces,” the Department for Ingushetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports.

Earlier in Ingushetia, new details in a case on plotting terror acts in the republic have been disclosed. According to the investigators’ version, 18-year-old defendants were trained to make improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and planned to blow up the buildings of the National Guard of Russian and of a separate battalion of the patrol-and-post service of the Sunzha Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
