Yangulbaev denied his family involvement in beating up Chechen law enforcer in Turkey

By accusing the Yangulbaev family of organizing an attack on a former Chechen law enforcer in Turkey, Ramzan Kadyrov is trying to justify the kidnapping of Zarema Musaeva, her son, Abubakar Yangulbaev, has suggested. The head of Chechnya mentioned the law enforcer's beating in the context of Musaeva's abduction in order to rehabilitate himself before the Kremlin for his statements against Turkish authorities and to justify pressure on the Yangulbaevs, members of the Chechen Diaspora in Turkey believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 22, the head of Chechnya accused the Yangulbaevs of supporting terrorism and organizing the beating up of the above Chechen law enforcer in Turkey. He has called on law enforcers to detain and punish the entire family or execute them as terrorists' accomplices.

Ramzan Kadyrov's statements have nothing to do with reality and are intended to disavow the actions of Chechen law enforcers who took the wife of a federal judge hostage, after which serious indignation was sparked in the society, Abubakar Yangulbaev, a former lawyer of the "Committee against Torture" (CaT)* and a son of Zarema Musaeva, believes.

The story with the Yangulbaevs points to the breakdown of Chechen taboos, when methods condemned by customs are used against authorities' opponents: for example, when women and children are taken hostage, Ruslan Kutaev, the President of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations, has noted.
