Dagestani journalists hold pickets in support of Gadjiev

Today, journalists of the edition "Novoye Delo" (New Clause) and the weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft) have held solo pickets in the centre of Makhachkala. The protestors demand to stop arrests without proof and to release Abdulmumin Gadjiev.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that activists regularly held solo pickets in Makhachkala in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the “Chernovik”.

According to investigators, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, as well as Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" Charity Fund, and Kemal Tambiev, raised money for terrorists under the pretext of building mosques and helping poor Muslims.

Like earlier, today’s pickets have taken place at the intersection of Gamzatov and Dakhadaev Streets in Makhachkala, not far from the buildings of the Dagestani Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the FSB.

Magdi Kamalov, a founder of the “Chernovik”, was standing with a poster in his hands with the inscription reading: “Stop arrests without proof.” Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the “Chernovik”, held the second solo picket. In his hands, the picketer was holding a poster reading: “Freedom to Abdulmumin Gadjiev.” The third solo picket was held with the demand to the authorities to give freedom to political prisoners and was held by journalist Idris Yusupov, the “Chernovik” reports.
