Chechen residents hold mass events to mark Day of Memory of Kunta-Khadji Kishiev

Chechnya marked the Day of Memory of Kunta-Khadji Kishiev with mass religious events.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that since 2009, on January 3, Chechnya marks the Day of Memory of Kunta-Khadji Kishiev. On January 3, residents of the republic perform religious rites and a pilgrimage to the grave of the Kunta-Khadji Kishiev’s mother in the village of Ertan.

Kunta-Khadji Kishiev is an Islamic preacher of the Caucasian War era. He is considered one of 356 Muslim saints who permanently live on earth. The number of the followers of the Kunta-Khadji Kishiev wird (religious community, – note of the “Caucasian Knot) includes Ramzan Kadyrov and most of the officials and religious leaders of Chechnya.

Today, Chechnya holds mass religious events timed to the Day of Memory and Honoring of Kunta-Khadji Kishiev, the news agency “Chechnya Segodnya” reports.

“On the 158th anniversary of the exile of the sheikh, in the cities and regions of the republic, people read the holy Koran, hold mawlid (a gathering of Muslims timed to important events), and perform dhikr (prayer with the repetition of the name of Allah),” the “Chechnya Segodnya” reports.

Today, Ramzan Kadyrov has made an appeal in connection with the Day of Honoring of Kunta-Khadji Kishiev. “Kunta-Khadji Kishiev was a very peace-loving person. He did not take up arms and did not call anyone to violence. Despite his exclusively peacekeeping and creative activities, Kunta-Khadji Kishiev was arrested and sent into exile by the tsarist authorities. This crime cannot be explained by anything other than a desire to plunge the people into bloodshed,” said, in particular, the leader of Chechnya.
